Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham’s Final Box Score Stats, Highlights as Fever Beat Valkyries

Caitlin Clark led the charge as the Indiana Fever and Sophie Cunningham rolled to a 90-82 home victory over the Golden State Valkyries on Friday, improving to 4-2 on the season.

Indiana leaned on its starting lineup throughout the night, with the core unit combining for 70 points to control the matchup from the opening quarter.

Clark delivered another all-around performance with 22 points, two rebounds, nine assists and notched a steal and a block to pace the Fever. Kelsey Mitchell added 19 points while Aliyah Boston recorded 20 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double.

Cunningham gave Indiana a boost off the bench with 11 points in the victory.

The Valkyries dropped to 3-2 behind a strong effort from the second unit. Tiffany Hayes led the team off the bench with 19 points while Kaitlyn Chen added 18 points of her own in reserve minutes.

Veronica Burton delivered a well-rounded performance with 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks, but Golden State’s supporting starters struggled to keep pace, combining for just 22 points as a group outside of Burton.

The Valkyries carried a seven-point lead into halftime behind a strong effort from their bench unit. Hayes scored 10 points while Chen led the way with 12 first-half points.

For Indiana, Clark entered the break with 10 points while Mitchell added 11 first-half points for the trailing Fever.

The Valkyries opened the season with back-to-back victories before suffering their first loss against the Chicago Sky. They quickly bounced back with a statement 17-point win over the New York Liberty.

The Fever dropped their season opener to Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings before defeating the Los Angeles Sparks in their second game. Indiana then fell in overtime to the Washington Mystics to slip to 1-2 on the season.

The Fever entered Friday’s matchup riding a two-game winning streak against Pacific Northwest opponents and have now extended their overall winning streak to three straight victories.

The Valkyries and Fever will meet again Thursday, this time with Golden State hosting in the Bay Area.
