Bovis no longer working on Crystal Palace stadium expansion

Bovis is no longer working on the scheme to build the new main stand at Premier League club Crystal Palace.
Building understands the firm left several months ago having completed its work under a PCSA that it was appointed to in summer 2024. Bovis declined to comment.
Morrisroe, which was appointed to carry out design, demolition, piling and structures work, is also no longer on the job. Earlier this week, Morrisroe revealed it was going to build a new stand for Europa League winners Aston Villa.
Crystal Palace, which has been contacted for comment, is understood to have changed its procurement strategy for the work which will increase Selhurst Park’s capacity by 8,000 to 34,000.
In its last update on the scheme, which is thought to be worth at least £150m, the club said it had completed the purchase of six homes near the ground which will be demolished to make way for the south-eastern corner of the stand.
The update, which came out in January, said that other works, including enabling, “have progressed well” and that “a further update on next steps for the redevelopment project will be issued in due course”.
In the Eagles’ previous update, made in December 2024, the club said “the main stand development is progressing well and is currently in its final planning phase, including ongoing negotiations with contractors, with the intention of starting building works at the conclusion of the 2024/25 football season”.
Bovis, which was known as Lendlease when it won the job, beat McLaren to the work but the club has not made an announcement on a new main contractor.
The KSS-designed proposal was given the green light by Croydon council in 2022. Others working on the deal include cost consultant Core 5 and structural engineer Mott MacDonald. The club has been at its Selhurst Park home since 1924
Meanwhile, McLaren is working with Oxford United on its plans for a 16,000-seat stadium that were given the green light last summer.
The ground, designed by AFL Architects, is set to be the UK’s first all-electric stadium with the wider scheme including a 180-room hotel, a 1,000-seat conference centre, an 820sq m and a health and wellbeing centre, a 690sq m gym and a 200sq m sports bar.
