Shari’s parent company files for bankruptcy more than a year after closing Oregon diners

BEAVERTON, Ore. (KATU) — The parent company of Shari’s Restaurants has filed for bankruptcy, more than a year after shuttering all Oregon locations of the breakfast diner chain.
Texas-based Lena Brands LLC, which is the parent company of Shari’s Cafe & Pies and Coco’s Bakery, officially filed for Chapter 11 back on May 15.
Shari’s closed all off its locations statewide back in October of 2024 while the company had an outstanding debt with the Oregon Lottery of more than $900,000.

The bankruptcy filing showed Lena Brands LLC reporting between $1 million and $10 million in assets, and between $10 million and $50 million in liabilities.
Shari’s has nine remaining locations across Washington, California and Idaho.
Last July, Elmer’s Restaurants announced it would be taking over some of the old Shari’s locations, which were housed in iconic hexagonal buildings.
