Toronto man charged with murder after body found in Cabbagetown garage

Police launch homicide investigation after a victim was found in a garage off Laneway near Dundas and Seaton over the weekend.
Toronto police have charged a man with second-degree murder after a body was found in a private Cabbagetown garage.
Officers were in the area of Dundas and Seaton streets, east of Sherbourne Street, on Saturday morning when they were flagged down about an unresponsive person in a laneway.
Police said the male victim was located with “obvious” signs of trauma and pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim, who was initially described as a woman “in error,” is unknown and police have released images of their clothing and jewelry to identify them. They’re described as five foot six inches tall, with a medium build, dark hair and dark eyes, and possibly of Asian descent.

On Tuesday, investigators announced the murder charge against 30-year-old Toronto resident Boubacar Dembele.
Police haven’t said what may have motivated the murder or released a cause of death.
In an email to CTV News, police said that the accused has “no connection” to the private garage where the body was discovered.
This is Toronto’s 10th homicide of the year.
