Matthew Perry‘s live-in personal assistant was sentenced today to almost three and a half years behind bars for injecting the Friends star with the three ketamine doses that killed him on October 28, 2023.
Also hit with a $10,000 fine Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett, Ken Iwamasa is the fifth and final defendant in Perry’s death to be sentenced. Perry’s pal since 1992, and his $150,000 a year right-hand man since 2022, 60-year-old Iwamasa was the last person the actor spoke to before he died. He was also , in August 2024, was the first defendant to cop a plea with the feds in the whole sordid matter.

Last month, Jasveen Sangha A.K.A. the Ketamine Queen was handed a 15-year prison stint for supplying many of the drugs that killed long time addict Perry. Before Sangha, two doctors and Bel-Air treatment center program director Eric Fleming were given time behind bars for their part in the lucrative and illegal campaign to provide Perry with the drugs that eventually killed the 54-year old actor. “In October 2023, Sangha and Fleming sold Perry 51 vials of ketamine, which were provided to Kenneth Iwamasa, 60, of Toluca Lake, Perry’s live-in personal assistant,” the Department of Justice in August 2025 revealed as a part of the Ketamine Queen’s plea agreement.
In handing down Iwamasa’s sentence today, the judge basically went along with the prosecution’s recommendations. However, she did note of the defendant that “there is no hard evidence that you acted with malicious intent, though some would disagree.”
Also pointing to Iwanasa’s close relationship with Perry and intimate knowledge of his drug and alcohol problems, Judge Garnett told the defendant today in DTLA that “your conduct was reckless, not just on the day of his death but in the days leading up to his death.”
Perry was found dead in his Pacific Palisades backyard hot tub after authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call from Iwanasa over the unconscious star. According to 2024 documents from the probe into Perry’s death, the last words he spoke were telling Iwanasa to “shoot me up with a big one” before getting in the hot tub. The same hot tub Perry was later that day found dead and face down in.
