Helen Mirren Shows Support for Tom Hardy Amid ‘MobLand’ Set Drama

Helen Mirren may have had to wait around on set, but apparently still supports her MobLand co-star Tom Hardy.

The actress took to Instagram to express support for Hardy amid reports the actor made the show’s cast and crew wait around for hours while he stayed in his trailer.

Mirren posted a photo of Hardy and wrote, “Love you now and always.”

The MobLand controversy was sparked by reports in several outlets that Hardy was going to be fired due to unprofessional behavior on set during its second season. The Hollywood Reporter did not echo the firing claim, but did confirm the on-set behavior complaints.

“He refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time,” a source to close the production told THR: “He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play. Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

Now sources close to the Paramount+ show are saying they’re trying to work things out with Hardy for a potential third season on the Guy Ritchie series.

The move comes amid Mirren inadvertently being in the headlines herself following a man calling the 80-year-old Oscar winner an “evil Zionist bitch” on the streets of London on Wednesday (Mirren is not Jewish, but has long been outspoken in her support of Israel).

MobLand is produced by 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios. Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, a fixer for the Harrigan crime family led by patriarch Conrad (Brosnan) and matriarch Maeve (Mirren). Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Janet McTeer, Jordi Mollà and Toby Jones star in supporting roles.
