Xabi Alonso is sending private messages to a Real Madrid star, urging him to join Chelsea with him

Xabi Alonso’s move to Chelsea has already started to reshape expectations around the club’s transfer strategy, even before he officially begins his tenure.
The former Real Madrid coach, who is set to take charge at Stamford Bridge on a four-year deal from July 1, is believed to be closely involved in early planning for recruitment.

Among the names being discussed, one stands out in particular: Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler, who is reportedly still in regular contact with Alonso and remains a long-term target for the new Chelsea boss.
Alonso’s short but impactful spell in charge at Real Madrid helped him develop a strong professional relationship with Güler.
The Turkey international had initially struggled for consistent minutes under previous managers, but his situation improved significantly once Alonso arrived. Under his guidance, Güler was given more trust and increased responsibility in matches.
That shift helped him grow into a more influential figure in the squad and strengthened his bond with the Spanish coach. Now, even after Alonso’s departure, that connection appears to have remained intact through ongoing private communication.
Chelsea’s hierarchy are aware that Alonso’s personal relationships could play a major role in shaping recruitment decisions. Reports suggest he is already identifying players he believes can elevate the squad, and Güler is understood to be high on that list.
The idea of reuniting at Stamford Bridge is said to appeal to Alonso, particularly given the midfielder’s technical profile and long-term potential.
Alonso’s vision and the growing Güler transfer talk
During his time at Madrid, Alonso helped Güler transform from a squad player into a more consistent presence in the team.
The youngster went from limited appearances in his first two seasons to significantly increased involvement under Alonso, who reportedly valued his creativity and tactical intelligence.
Even while dealing with injury setbacks, Güler still managed a productive campaign, showing flashes of the ability that made him one of Europe’s most highly rated young midfielders.
Across his time working under Alonso, he accumulated important minutes, contributing goals and assists while adapting to a more structured role.
Güler himself has spoken warmly about his former manager, describing their relationship as close and built on trust.
“The truth is that we had a brilliant relationship. I felt as though he’d handed me the keys,” Guler told Turkish outlet TRT Spor.
“It was exactly what I was looking for, honestly. Now he’s signed for Chelsea. I hope everything goes well for him. Of course, we’re still messaging each other.”
However, any potential move to Chelsea would be far from simple. Güler remains under contract with Real Madrid until 2029, giving the Spanish giants full control over his future.
His valuation is believed to be around €90 million, though Madrid would likely demand in excess of €100 million to even consider a sale. Chelsea would also face competition from other top European clubs monitoring his progress.
While a transfer is not imminent, the relationship between the two could prove decisive if Chelsea decide to make a serious move in the future.
