Fire at Rice Lake apartment ruled accidental

RICE LAKE, Wis. (WEAU) – On May 26 around 3:30 p.m., the Rice Lake Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire at The King Edward Inn Apartments, 6E.
According to a press release from the Rice Lake Fire Department, the caller reported that smoke was coming from an apartment.
Upon arrival from the first fire department units, tenants began self-evacuating the building with firefighters assisting three tenants on safely evacuating.
The fire was located and put out in an apartment on the third floor.
Smoke was ventilated and a secondary search was conducted checking for fire extension in adjacent apartments and ensuring all tenants had safely evacuated the building.
No damage estimates are available at this time and no firefighters or civilians were injured.
After an investigation based on evidence collected on the scene and interviews, the cause of the fire is ruled as accidental.
