Crash involving motorcyclist shuts down part of Phoenix freeway

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A freeway is back open after a serious motorcycle crash in central Phoenix early Saturday morning.

The crash was reported on the northbound lanes of I-17 near Bethany Home Road. Details about the crash are still under investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, but Arizona’s Family crews witnessed a motorcycle lying in the middle of the freeway.

Video shows a badly burned motorcycle and a vehicle with severe rear-end damage being loaded onto a tow truck. Crews were also sweeping up debris scattered across the freeway.

Arizona’s Family learned at least one person was taken to the hospital, but their current condition is unknown at this time.

The northbound lanes were closed for several hours but reopened shortly before 7 a.m. Southbound traffic was unaffected.
