Is Caleb Williams the Madden 27 cover athlete?

As of this writing, there has never been a Chicago Bears player to grace the cover of EA Sports’ Madden NFL video game franchise. It appears that might soon be changing.
MUTLeaks, a popular college football gaming profile on Twitter/X with over 125,000 followers, posted pictures of what appeared to be the leaked covers of both Madden NFL 27 and College Football 27 on Saturday. In particular, the Madden cover they posted showed Bears quarterback Caleb Williams in his “Iceman” gesture.
Though most of the MUTLeaks account’s posts have been in regards to the Ultimate Team mode in both features, they have been consistent in revealing accurate information on players and packs before they get released.
It remains to be seen until EA Sports posts the news themselves, but it seems as though the Bears could finally have representation on the cover of Madden since the franchise started putting players on the cover in Madden NFL 2001, as opposed to previous editions featuring the late John Madden on the cover. It’s worth noting they did have one cover athlete on a non-standard version; then-starting guard Roberto Garza was the cover athlete of the Spanish version of Madden NFL 09.
Williams is coming off of a strong year for the Bears, having led them to an 11-6 season and their first NFC North championship since 2018. He finished seventh in the NFL with 3,942 passing yards and sixth with 27 passing touchdowns. He also finished seventh among quarterbacks with 388 rushing yards.
There’s still more work to be done in Williams’ development, as his 58.1% completion percentage ranked No. 38 among the 42 quarterbacks qualified for PFSN’s QB Impact Scoring metric. That said, his ability to perform in the clutch helped establish him as one of the most exciting quarterbacks to watch in the league. He led the NFL with six fourth-quarter comebacks and tied for second with six game-winning drives.
