UFC Macau live results and play-by-play analysis

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is live THIS MORNING (Sat., May 30, 2026) with UFC Macau, streaming live online via Paramount+. The event goes down in the Galaxy Arena in Macau, China. Tonight’s card is headlined by Song Yadong vs. Deiveson Figueiredo.

The UFC’s latest trip Asia comes with another early start for us in North America. I’m not complaining, though. I love these events being all wrapped up before noon.

The main event for this one sees two Bantamweights coming off losses to contenders. Song Yadong could not find a way past Sean O’Malley’s striking when they met in January. And Deiveson Figueiredo was powerless to stop Umar Nurmagomedov’s pressure wrestling game. They’ll meet today, but a win will still leave them pretty far back in the title fight pecking order.

The co-main event gives Zhang Mingyang a shot at redemption. Last year he was given a lay-up in Shanghai in the form of Johnny Walker. However, ‘The Mountain Tiger’ couldn’t convert and was beaten by a shock second round TKO. He’s been served up Alonzo Menifield this time, with UFC seemingly really wanting a heavier weight Chinese star to further develop this market.

Rounding out our main card today is Sergei Pavlovich vs. Tallison Teixeira, Kai Asakura vs. Cameron Smotherman, Jake Matthews vs. Carlston Harris and Alex Perez vs. Sumudaerji. A lot of those guys are firmly stuck in the shadows, in their respective divisions, so they’ll be hoping for a big flashy win under the bright lights of the oyster city.

The “”Prelims” are headlined by Yi Sak Lee vs. Luis Dias de Assis. The undercard has lots of Contender Series and Road to UFC grads, as well as some guys pulled right off the regional scene. The biggest name on the “Prelims” is Angela Hill, she meets former ONE champ Xiong Jingnan.

UFC MACAU PLAY-BY-PLAY UPDATES

Song Yadong vs. Deiveson Figueiredo

Round 1: There wasn’t anything to score for the first three minutes of this round. Song eventually warmed up, though, and started establishing his striking. He stung Figueiredo a few times and had the Brazilian looking for a takedown. Song stuffed that and continued to walk him down. Song was hip faking a lot. It turned out he was trying to set up a head kick. He threw it at the end of the round, but missed and ended up on his butt. Figueiredo got on top, but didn’t do enough to take back the round.

Round 2: Figueiredo looked more interested in trading punches early in this round, but that soon trailed off as Song took the center and continued to walk him down. Song got close enough to punch and push Figueiredo down. On the ground Figueiredo sprung on a leg kick attempt and used that to get to his feet. On the feet Song landed some hard single shots. Figueiredo showboated to pass off the shots as not hurting, but I think these were starting to add up. Figueiredo finally got his takedown after that, but Song caught him in a tight guillotine that forced a quick tap.

Official decision: Song Yadong def. Deiveson Figueiredo by submission (guillotine), round 2 (4:42)

Zhang Mingyang vs. Alonzo Menifield

Round 1: They traded leg kicks early. But it didn’t take long for them to trade in the pocket. And Zhang came off the worst in that opening exchange. Zhang was able to clear the cobwebs, but Menifield then pressed him against the cage. Zhang managed to reverse the position and land some hard knees in the clinch. Menifield got off the fence and started swinging for the fences. He tagged Zhang a few times and had Zhang grateful to secure another clinch. Zhang then hurt Menifield with an elbow on a separation. And then Zhang walked into a hard jab. Zhang went down after that, perhaps by a slip. But Menifield was able to do some damage with him on the ground. Zhang stood, but Menifield drilled him again with big punches and this time he put Zhang down and out!

Official decision: Alonzo Menifield def. Zhang Mingyang by TKO (punches), round 1 (4:15)

Sergei Pavlovich vs. Tallison Teixeira

Round 1: Well that didn’t take long. Pavlovich stepped up to Teixeira and cracked him with a combo that send Tallison back to the fence. Pavlovich kept firing and Tallison went down and out in about thirty seconds.

Official decision: Sergei Pavlovich def. Tallison Teixeira by KO (punches), round 1 (0:39)

Kai Asakura vs. Cameron Smotherman

Round 1: Asakura showed he had the speed advantage early in this fight. He landed a few clean shots that had Smotherman backing up. Asakura then closed and dropped him with a right hook. Smotherman popped up but was stuck on the fence. Asakura then unloaded to trigger the TKO.

Official decision: Kai Asakura def. Cameron Smotherman by KO (punches), round 1 (1:50)

Jake Matthews vs. Carlston Harris

Round 1: Both men stepped into the pocket wanting to throw in this round. Neither made clean connections in the early exchanges. Though, they may have clashed heads a few times. After a brief clinch, Matthews caught Harris behind the ear with a winging punch. Harris was wobbled from that, but Matthews didn’t steam in for the finish. Matthews landed a few more clean shots, but Harris was more or less recovered at that point. Harris looked pretty slow by the end of the round, though.

Round 2: Harris shot and then pulled guard immediately to start the second round. Matthews then controlled Harris from half guard. After a while Matthews postured up and landed some good ground and pound. Harris covered up and Matthews then jumped into a head and arm choke, which he used to pass to mount. Harris defended the choke, but was still stuck on the bottom. That was until Matthews went for a kimura, which put him on the bottom.

Round 3: Matthews dropped Harris early in the round, landing another punch right behind Harris’ ear (this was a straight punch this time, though). Matthews took Harris’ back on the ground. Harris was able to get Matthews off his back, but was then stuck underneath. Matthews spent the rest of the round on top to secure the victory.

Official decision: Jake Matthews def. Carlston Harris by unanimous decision (30-25, 30-27, 30-27)

Alex Perez vs. Sumudaerji

Round 1: The crowd roared for literally everything Sumudaerji threw, let alone if it landed. He did a good job in this round of keeping Perez on the outside, though, flashing that very long jab. Perez went for a single leg, but couldn’t get it. He also tried to crash through range and land some hooks, but couldn’t connect. Sumudaerji defended one takedown attempt with a D’arce. He then went for a takedown and ended up in a tight guillotine. He was able to survive the round, though. It’s a close round to score, but Sumudaerji did more on the feet for me.

Round 2: Sumudaerji dropped Perez early with a straight left. He then got on top and tried to land ground and pound. Perez managed to control his posture, though, and survive the initial onslaught. Perez then kicked Sumudaerji off him and Sumudaerji let him stand up. Sumudaerji then landed a low blow that would put Perez down and in a lot of pain. After five minutes Perez (who spent some time vomiting) couldn’t continue and that ended the fight.

Official decision: Alex Perez vs. Sumudaerji ends in a no contest due to an accidental foul (groin kick) at 1:45 in round 2

Yi Sak Lee vs. Luis Felipe Dias: Dias really looked the part here. He stalked Lee throughout the fight, landing bombs. He hurt Lee early and it felt like the stoppage was just a matter of time. Dias won with a big right hook and some follow up shots on the ground.

Official decision: Luis Felipe Dias def. Yi Sak Lee by TKO (punches), round 1 (3:40)

Ding Meng vs. Jose Souza: That was a close fight and perhaps closer than it needed to be. Souza seemed the better striker and was able to use his reach to land well at range. He kind of hot dogged it, though. He was landing good shots and then almost admiring them. Ding was more workmanlike and he was able to work his way into the fight and land his own shots, while showing more aggression. I had him winning the very close rounds one and two.

Official decision: Jose Souza def. Ding Meng by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Aoriqileng vs. Cody Haddon: Total domination from Haddon. The Australian looked like the blue chip prospect he’s supposed to be here. He scored a 10-8 round in the first with his wrestling and brutal ground and pound. Aoriqileng did well to survive that. In the second Haddon had Aoriqileng pressed to the fence and he dropped him with brutal knees to the body. He followed up with punches to get the finish.

Official decision: Cody Haddon def. Aoriqileng by TKO (knees to the body and punches), round 2 (2:11)

Rei Tsuruya vs. Luis Gurule: After a year out, Tsuruya looked awesome here. He took apart Gurule, who was coming in two weeks after winning in the APEX. Tusurya chained wrestling and submissions together and after a nice suplex he got the back and quickly wrapped up a rear naked choke for the win.

Official decision: Rei Tsuruya def. Luis Gurule by submission (rear naked choke), round 1 (3:19)

Angela Hill vs. Xiong Jingnan: That was a fun striking battle between the established volume striker Hill and the former ONE Championship powerhouse Xiong. Hill showed she had the better craft throughout this fight, landing more often and with more technique. Xiong landed some power shots, but Hill’s chin was up to the task. Hill also mixed in some nice knees and body kicks with her strikes. I had her winning every round.

Official decision: Angela Hill def. Xiong Jingnan by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Zhu Kangjie vs. Rodrigo Vera: Kangjie started well, buoyed by the crowd. He landed some hard shots, but that prompted Vera to go to his wrestling early. He got a takedown and stopped some of Kangjie’s momentum. After Kangjie was up Vera dropped him with a left hook and then finished him on the ground.

Official decision: Rodrigo Vera def. Zhu Kangjie by TKO (punches), round 1 (1:15)

Loma Lookboonmee vs. Jaqueline Amorim: The night starts with a possible broken limb. Lookboonmee was doing nice work in the clinch, but Amorim got out of that position by rolling for a leg lock. On the ground she transitioned to arm attacks and eventually found an angle to hyper-extend Lookboonmee’s arm.

Official decision: Jaqueline Amorim def. Loma Lookboonmee by technical submission (armbar), round 1 (4:04)
