Ben Griffin finishes title defense at Colonial with 65

Ben Griffin is looking to join Ben Hogan on the short, illustrious list of players who successfully defended their championship at Colonial Country Club.
Griffin, who won a year ago in Fort Worth, par putted the No. 18 hole after his 50-foot attempt for birdie lipped out. He carded a 5-under 65 and is the clubhouse leader.
Griffin one shot off leader Eric Cole (-12) who is playing his back nine with Mac Meissner and Ryan Gerard.

Michael Brennan is also one shot off Cole and on the back nine.
Hogan won the tournament in consecutive years twice when it was the Colonial National Invitation (1946-47 and 1952-53). He also won in a playoff in 1959.
This is a developing story.
