Sandy residents told to shelter during a reported shooting

SANDY, Ore. (KATU) — A heavy police presence surrounded a neighborhood in Sandy this afternoon after reports of a domestic disturbance and a shooting near the 39500 block of Evans Street.
Reports indicated a serious situation in the area beginning around 4 p.m. or later. Sandy police and other agencies responded to the scene and remained in the area as details were still unclear.
Authorities warned that the area was not safe and urged people to stay away. Residents nearby were told to lock their doors and remain inside as officers continued to work the scene.

KATU crews said SWAT vans were on the scene as well as different police agencies.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office reposted the Sandy Police Department’s message on social media and confirmed the situation. Further details were not immediately available.
Mayor Scott Keyser of neighboring town Molalla in Clackamas County posted the following to his Facebook page, asking residents to join in prayer for first responders involved in the incident in Sandy:
KATU News reached out to Gresham Police; the agency confirmed around 5:43 p.m. that they were assisting Sandy Police and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. The agency did not provide any further information.
Just after 5:50 p.m., Sandy Police confirmed to KATU that the shooting scene remains active.
