Phoebe Bridgers Announces One-Dollar Madison Square Garden Show This Week

Right now, Phoebe Bridgers is in the middle of what appears to be an elaborate album rollout plan. Bridgers has been relatively quiet ever since boygenius won all those Grammys in 2024, though she’ll make her acting debut in the upcoming To Catch A Predator movie Primetime. Last month, Bridgers played a last-minute pop-up show in Roswell, New Mexico, where she debuted new songs. Since then, she’s been playing small shows in out-of-the-way locations, causing a whole lot of people to go crazy trying to get tickets. This week, she’ll play one of those shows in a much bigger venue: Madison Square Garden. During the Knicks’ NBA Finals run, no less! (There’s no game on Thursday, though.)
Over the past month, Phoebe Bridgers has played 18 shows in smaller venues, announcing them on the day of the gig, prohibiting all recordings and allowing only one ticket per person in line. On her Instagram story, she recently posted photos of fliers for her Madison Square Garden gig, which is happening on Thursday. It says that tickets will cost one dollar and that they’ll be available on this Tidal site, which seems to be currently accessible only on phones. (It doesn’t work on my laptop, anyway.)
It’s been about six years since Bridgers released Punisher, her last studio album. Recently, her publisher Blue Raincoat Music posted a URL with a since-deactivated trove of photos of Bridgers in the studio with people like Matty Healy, Alex G, Jack Anotonoff, and Bo Burnham. There’s already speculation that Bridgers will announce her upcoming album this week and that it could come out as early as Friday.
