Taylor Swift ‘passed’ on getting married in R.I.: Whitehouse

Looks like a cruel summer in New England, with yet another report that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce plan to make their love story official elsewhere.
The latest tip came from an unconventional source: Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse via TMZ. The senator told the celebrity gossip outlet Tuesday that he believes Swift “passed” on getting married in the Ocean State to her fiancé and NFL star.
“I don’t know about that, I think that she gave Rhode Island a pass,” Whitehouse told TMZ’s Charlie Cotton, who asked the Democrat about the global pop star’s rumored nuptials later this month.
“But I hope so, I’d love to have her in Rhode Island,” Whitehouse added.
Rumors previously spread that Swift and Kelce were looking at tying the knot at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, not far from Swift’s vacation home in Westerly. Late last year, the beachfront resort squashed reports that Swift had paid off a bride to get her June 13 wedding date at the venue. (True Swifties know the significance of 13 to the artist.)
Get Starting Point
“Ocean House would not and is not allowing another party or entity to buy a wedding group out of a contracted wedding date,” Stephanie Leavitt, the sales and marketing director for Ocean House, told the Globe in December.
But Page Six reported in April that the couple had instead picked New York City for their wedding, which is reportedly scheduled for July 3. A source told Page Six in the fall that Swift and Kelce were looking outside of Rhode Island so they “can accommodate more attendees.”
Other celebrities have chosen to tie the knot in the Ocean State. Model and actress Olivia Culpo, a Rhode Island native, married 49ers quarterback Christian McCaffrey at the Watch Hill Chapel in June 2024. Actress Jennifer Lawrence got married to Cooke Maroney at Belcourt in Newport in 2019.
