Argument leads to deadly shooting in east Las Vegas, suspect identified

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police say the suspect in a deadly shooting Tuesday afternoon is in custody.

Robert Price of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department provided a briefing about the shooting, saying that it happened in the 4800 block of E. Flamingo Road, near Boulder Highway.

Police said dispatch received a ShotSpotter notification of gunfire in the area. Reports came in that someone was shot.

When officers arrived, police said they found two men lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds.

Officers rendered aid until medical arrived. One man was transported to Sunrise Hospital in “stable” condition, while the other died at the scene.

Police said its homicide unit is investigating. Detectives learned that three men were arguing near a tire shop in the area.

Price said the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the two. The suspect has since been taken into custody and was identified as 28-year-old Christopher Guerra.

He recently appeared in court, where a judge set his bail at $500,000.

Guerra is due back in court on June 8.
