SAW Genesis brings the franchise to the aftermath of WW1

SAW Genesis is a new game set in the SAW universe, this time set just after World War 1.

“SAW: Genesis allows you to play on either side of a 3v1 confrontation in intense matches that take place on procedurally generated maps,” say developers Bloober Team. “Step into the role of the Judge, an early architect of Jigsaw’s philosophy, manipulating the trial and its prisoners from behind the scenes. Or play as one of three Accused looking to escape the deadly labyrinth through teamwork and sacrifice.”

You will be able to play as The Judge who “is dedicated to rehabilitating humanity through pain and sacrifice”, or one of the three Accused.

The Judge can set traps and use perks, controlling the game from the shadows by using secret tunnels and noise detection. He also has hallucinogenic gas and paralyzing toxins, and “an Accomplice that can be summoned to drag the Accused into Rehabilitation Traps.” However, unlike other asymmetrical games, he does not posses greater strength than the accused and cannot take them down with force alone.

The three accused must work together to escape from the trap-laden maze. Your will be gradually drained, and if it gets to low, you may get ensnared in a trap, forcing you to decide between waiting for your team mates to rescue you – or sacrifice part of your body.

“SAW: Genesis is built for short, intense matches where no two trials play out the same,” say Bloober. Features include:

  • Procedurally generated levels that maximize replayability.
  • Dilemmas and puzzles inspired by the SAW franchise.
  • Rehabilitation traps with meaningful, lasting consequences.
  • A unique power dynamic where the Judge controls the game from the shadows, but the Accused can find moments to fight back with smart coordination and physical force.

The game is coming to Early Access on Steam very soon.
