Trains between Scotland’s major cities cancelled over emergency incident

British Transport Police said that a casualty had been found on the line. The person was pronounced dead that the scene.

Rail services through the area have been suspended after the incident, which prompted a response from emergency services and disrupted travel in the area.

It is understood the person had been struck by a train, though this has not been confirmed.

ScotRail said that trains are currently unable to pass through the affected section of line due to the incident.

Emergency crews are on scene dealing with the situation, with rail staff working alongside them to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.

At present, there is no indication of how long the disruption will last, with officials unable to provide an estimate for when the line will reopen.

Passengers are being advised to check for updates and consider alternative travel arrangements while the incident is ongoing.

On-platform briefings have suggested that services will not return to normal for more than an hour.

ScotRail said on social media: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident near Croy, so we can’t run trains through the area as the line is blocked.

“We’re working closely with the emergency services to get the line reopened, but we’ve no estimate for this at present.”

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called at around 8.15am this morning – 9 June – to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Croy railway station.

” Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
