Re: Excellent service from BC Ferries staff

On Tuesday, June 2nd, my husband and I planned to travel by ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke Point to visit friends.

Unfortunately, we went to the wrong departure deck and ended up on the wrong ferry. We did not realize our mistake until the ship was about to dock at Mayne Island. We went to the steward’s office, and when the staff member heard about our dilemma, she could not have been more helpful. Despite the fact that she was about to make docking announcements, she designated that responsibility to another staff member and immediately decided that our problem was hers.

We knew that we would not be able to get to Duke Point in time to meet our friends, therefore she explained to us the most efficient way for us to return to Tsawwassen.

She ensured that the ground staff were aware of our situation. They were incredibly helpful. They escorted us to the waiting area, which was spotlessly clean and inviting. They informed us that they would come and get us, which they did, when the ferry arrived so that we would not miss our connection.

The steward made sure that we got ticket vouchers so that we would not have to pay for our ongoing ferry trip and, in addition, she included a meal voucher, which we really appreciated.

We would like you to know how incredibly impressed we were with the service, and despite the fact that our trip to Duke Point was aborted and we did not get to see our friends, the entire experience was a very positive one. Plus, the fact that it was a beautiful day, weatherwise and a perfect day to spend at sea.

Thank you again to everyone who made our mishap a very positive experience.
