Police presence in Chester city centre
An increased police presence and a 48-hour city centre dispersal order is in place for the latest Chester Races fixture this weekend. With an influx of visitors expected due to the race meeting, additional police patrols will be deployed.
A dispersal order is now in place until 12.30pm on Sunday 28 June 2026. The dispersal order will allow officers to ban anyone from the area for up to 48 hours to prevent disorder.
There will also be an increased police presence to deal with any anti-social behaviour which may arise across the city. Inspector James Wilson said: “This weekend it will be incredibly busy in Chester, paired with the hot weather, and while we hope everyone enjoys their time here, we hope they do so safely and look out for each other.
“As well as an increased police presence, there will be a dispersal order in place which serves as an additional tactical option that allows us to directly combat anti-social behaviour head on, before it escalates.”
