Gorka Marquez has been told he is ‘missed’ by one of his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars after he made the decision not to compete on the show this year.
The professional dancer did sign back up for the BBC One dance contest this year and was included in the broadcaster’s pro line-up for the series.
Gorka was seen during the opening number of the first live show of the 2025 run of the popular programme, but it came after he confirmed he wouldn’t be getting a celebrity partner this year.
Some may recall that back in 2024, the dance star appeared as a judge on the Spanish version of Strictly and now returned to the judging role.
But, as the series now falls at the same time as the UK version, whereas it didn’t previously, it meant that Gorka made the decision to go back to the judging panel, as opposed to competing in Strictly this year.
However, he was part of the pre-recording of the group numbers set to feature throughout this Strictly run and he’ll also be back before this year’s show draws to a close.
Previously sharing the news on Instagram in August, the 35-year-old said: “I am happy to announce that I will be back for season two of BAILANDO CON LAS ESTRELLAS as a judge from September.
“Due to the filming dates this means that I won’t be competing with a partner this year in Strictly but I will be a part of lots of the group numbers and will be back for final weeks of the show to support the rest of my fellow pros and their celebrities in what is going to be an AMAZING SERIES. As always thank you for all The love and support and remember! Keep dancing!!!”

But he has been showing his support for his Strictly co-stars, and it’s clear he’s missed among the team. Taking to Instagram, Gorka shared a string of snaps summing up September as the month drew to a close.
The post featured a snap of him at home with his son, Thiago, who he shares with fiancee Gemma Atkinson, as well as a glimpse at his time in Spain working on the Spanish Strictly.
Alongside the post, he wrote: “Bye bye September. Thanks for good times.” And it was new Strictly pro Julian Caillon who was quick to respond with the message: “Miss you bro!!”
It comes after it was revealed that Gorka will be back on stage with some of his co-stars next year as the Strictly The Professionals live tour is back.
After a brief hiatus, Gorka will join Julian, Vito Coppola, Neil Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Lauren Oakley, Jowita Przystał, Michelle Tsiakkas, Alexis Warr, Kai Widdrington, and Nancy Xu for the new show.
The announcement was made on Wednesday (October 1) via the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour, which will also be back early next year, team.
Alongside a video on Instagram, a message read: “Strictly The Professionals is back — bigger, bolder, and more breathtaking than ever. 11 world-class dancers from the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing, a sensational live band, powerhouse vocalists, dazzling costumes, and show-stopping choreography – this is the ultimate night out.
