Iwan Morgan Joins the Mariners

We are delighted to announce the signing of forward Iwan Morgan from Premier League side Brentford for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Blundell Park, keeping him with the Mariners until the summer of 2029.
A Wales youth international, Morgan arrives following an impressive spell with Brentford, where he established himself as one of the standout performers for the club’s B Team.
After progressing through the academies at Cardiff City and Swansea City, Morgan joined Brentford in September 2023 after an outstanding goalscoring campaign with Swansea’s Under-18s, netting 28 goals in all competitions.
He made an immediate impact in West London, finishing as one of Brentford B’s leading scorers during his first season before enjoying a remarkable 2024/25 campaign, scoring 25 goals in 42 appearances as the Bees lifted the Professional Development League title.
Morgan also gained valuable senior experience during the second half of last season, joining Sky Bet League Two side Shrewsbury Town on loan. Operating across the frontline, the young forward made 22 appearances and scored three goals as he continued his development in the Football League.
Known for his intelligent movement, relentless work rate and ability to stretch defences, Morgan has also represented Wales at Under-17 and Under-19 level. He scored an impressive 10 goals in just eight appearances for his country at Under-17 level, including twice at the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
The striker becomes David Artell’s latest addition ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and arrives with significant potential despite his young age, having already gained experience within one of the Premier League’s most highly regarded development programmes.
Speaking after completing his move to Blundell Park, Morgan said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be here. As soon as I spoke to the Gaffer and heard about his plans for the Club and how he sees me fitting into the team, it was a really easy decision.
“Last season gave me a real taste of senior football and I’ve come here hungry to keep improving, working hard every day and showing what I can do. I know Grimsby is a Club with ambitious goals, passionate supporters and a fantastic atmosphere, so it’s the perfect place for me to continue my development.
“I can’t wait to get started, meet the fans at Blundell Park and hopefully play my part in helping the team have a successful season.”
Head Coach David Artell added:
“We’re really pleased to bring Iwan to the football club. He’s a player we’ve admired for a while and somebody we believe has enormous potential.
“He’s already shown what he’s capable of in excellent development environments and gained valuable Football League experience last season. He’s quick, intelligent with his movement, works tirelessly for the team and has all the attributes we look for in a forward.
“At just 20 years old, there’s still plenty of development ahead of him, but we believe this is the right environment for him to continue progressing. We’re looking forward to working with him and helping him take the next steps in his career.”
Everyone at Grimsby Town would like to welcome Iwan to the Club and wish him every success in black and white.
