The Traitors finally returns to screens this week with a fresh star-studded version of the hit BBC programme hosted by Claudia Winkleman. Actress Celia Imrie is among the list of famous faces who will make their way into the castle with the chance to prove themselves as either a Faithful or a Traitor.
The 73-year-old actress has been a familiar face on our screens over the years and has racked up an impressive number of film credits. She is best known for her roles in the Bridget Jones film series, Nanny McPhee, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Calendar Girls. She also worked with comedian Victoria Wood in the 1980s on Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV.
She was born in 1952 in Guildford, Surrey and went on to attend the Guildford School of Acting. She first made a name for herself on ITV series Upstairs, Downstairs during the 1970s. Her latest appearance was in crime comedy film The Thursday Murder Club, based on the 2020 novel by Richard Osman.

She has now signed up for the exciting new BBC show for its first season. The celebrity edition of the game of deception and betrayal will feature 19 stars including actor and broadcaster Sir Stephen Fry, Olympian Tom Daley, singer Charlotte Church and TV presenter Kate Garraway.
Away from the screen, Celia Imrie now splits her time between both London and Nice in the south of France. She gave birth to her son, Angus Imrie in 1994 with actor Benjamin Whitrow.
It seems her son followed in his mum’s footsteps as he has also established himself in the acting world. In 2014, he won the casting agency Spotlight’s Most Promising Actor Award at The Sunday Times’ National Student Drama Festival.
He made his onscreen debut in the BBC film Station Jim when he was just five year old. Over the years, he has also appeared in ITV drama series, Kingdom in 2007 and BBC One’s Restless in 2012.
Angus, now 31, is known for playing Josh Archer in BBC Radio 4 drama The Archers. In 2014, he joined the long-running programme, which is based on a rural farming community in the fictional village of Ambridge. He plays Josh Archer, the son of David and Ruth.

Celia shares Angus with actor Benjamin Whitrow. He was best known for his portrayal of Mr Bennet in the 1995 version of Pride and and Prejudice on the BBC. The actor died in 2017 after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
Celia and Benjamin were originally just thought to be friends, but after his death Celia admitted there was a romance between the pair. Celia spoke to The Express shortly after his death, as she opened up on their “agreement”. She shared: “His death was very tough. Angus was devoted to his father and, though I’ve never really said it properly, Ben and I did have a romance.
“I wanted to have his baby before it was too late and he was very, very honest with him [Angus] and he accepted that and was a wonderful father.”
Celia asked Benjamin, who was divorced with two adult children, for a child when she was in her early 40s, saying she did not expect him to contribute towards the baby’s upbringing. The actress became pregnant aged 41 and welcomed Angus into the world in 1994.
The Celebrity Traitors airs Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer
