Edmonton forecast is BUMPY with a 27-degree temperature swing | News

It’s going to be a cold Thanksgiving long weekend in Edmonton, and the forecast is calling for a significant drop in temperatures before a warm-up arrives.

According to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, the weather in Edmonton is above average for today, Oct. 10; however, the thermometer takes a dip as we move through the long weekend.

Edmonton is forecast to reach a sunny high of 20°C today, with an overnight low of 8°C, which is well above average for both.

The daytime high on Saturday ticks below average at 8°C, before dropping to zero overnight, with a 60 per cent chance of showers during the day.

Temperatures continue their downward trend on Sunday, with plenty of cloud cover and a high of 1°C and an overnight low of -7°C.

When you do the math between today’s daytime high and the low on Sunday, it’s a temperature change of 27 degrees. It’s time to get your furnace working a little harder over the weekend!

It’s not all doom and gloom, though. Warmer temperatures appear to be making a comeback as we move through next week, with Wednesday and Tuesday expected to reach 13°C and 15°C, respectively.
