Mariners’ Kirby, Castillo to start Games 3 and 4 of ALCS vs. Blue Jays

Both pitchers last made an appearance in the winner-take-all Game 5 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers — a game that lasted 15 innings.
Kirby started the outing, pitching five innings and giving up one run on three hits with six strikeouts, while Castillo made a bullpen appearance in the 15th inning and came away with the win.
Over his two starts against the Tigers — he started Game 1 of the ALDS — Kirby gave up three runs over 10 innings of work while striking out 14. He hasn’t made a start against the Blue Jays yet this season.
Castillo, meanwhile, got the start in Game 2 of the ALDS, pitching 4.2 innings of shutout ball but surrendered four walks. In two starts against Toronto this year, the 32-year-old had a 1-1 record with a 7.20 ERA in 10 innings of work.
Shane Bieber will start for the Blue Jays in Game 3, but they have not yet announced their starter for Game 4.
The series will head to Seattle after Monday’s Game 2, with Game 3 scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, and Game 4 set for Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT. All games can be seen on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
