Argentina will face Colombia in the Semifinals of the U-20 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday afternoon at Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Santiago, Chile. Argentina made its way out of the group stage in the World Cup with an undefeated 3-0 record. Italy, Australia, and Cuba were all victims of Argentina’s defeats in Group D. Argentina opened up the elimination knockout stage with a matchup against Nigeria. The game didn’t last very long as Argentina took a 1-0 lead in the second minute off a goal from Alejo Sarco, followed by a 23rd-minute goal from Maher Carrizo to go up 2-0 at half.

Advancing to the quarterfinals, Argentina once again shut out its opponent, beating Mexico by a score of 2-0. Carrizo scored in the ninth minute, followed by an insurance goal from Silvetti in the 56th minute.
Colombia will look to break through tonight and become the first team to score a goal on Argentina in the knockout round. The nation got the semifinals first by winning Group F, despite having a 1-2-0 record in the team’s three group games. Colombia opened up the elimination round against South Africa, winning 3-1. Joel Canchimbo put the team up 1-0 in the 7th minute, before RSA tied it in the 49th minute on a converted penalty.
Neyser Villareal broke the tie game with a goal in the 63rd minute and was also responsible for the insurance goal in 90-minute stoppage time. As the team advanced to the quarterfinals, it took on Spain, winning 3-2. Villareal netted the first goal to go up 1-0 before Spain put two in just after the halftime break to regain the lead. Villareal played the hero, pocketing the game-tying goal in the 64th minute and the game-winning goal in the 89th minute.
