Obituary for Austin C Johnson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Austin C. Johnson, age 28, of Andalusia, IL on October 13, 2025. He was a beloved grandson, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend whose warmth, humor, and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
There will be a visitation from 4-7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to QC Paws or QC Animal Welfare Center, supporting a cause that was close to Austin’s heart.
Austin was born to Chris Johnson and Karen Taylor on February 27, 1997 in Silvis, IL. He was raised by Jeff and Kathy Overson in Andalusia and graduated from Rockridge High School in the Class of 2015.
On October 30, 2014 he enlisted in the US Army National Guard. During his service he earned the National Defense Medal and in 2018 he was honorably discharged.
A creative soul and deep thinker, Austin was a passionate writer, musician, and collector. He found comfort in music and enjoyed playing the guitar and drums. His love for animals—especially his chocolate labs, Mags and Nebula—was unmatched.
Austin lived with a heart filled with gratitude. He will be greatly missed by his grandparents, Jeff and Kathy Overson; father, Chris Johnson; his sister, Jordan Johnson; loving aunts and uncles, Mindy (Josh) Wheatley and Haleigh (Ryan) Bragg; and special cousins, Landon and Chase Wheatley and Easton and Kennedy Bragg. Austin was also cherished by his beloved dogs, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
