Bundesliga weekend predictions, odds & best tips: Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund set to renew rivalry

There is only one show in town in the Bundesliga this weekend as perennial title rivals Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund clash at the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening.
The German giants already occupy the top two spots in the standings but a Bayern win would see the champions move seven points clear of BVB, so the game is already a must-win for the visitors.

Union Berlin v Borussia Monchengladbach
Kick-off: 7.30pm Friday
Borussia Monchengladbach are still searching for their first victory of the Bundesliga season but they can give a good account of themselves on tonight’s trip to Union Berlin. Gladbach drew their last away game 1-1 at Bayer Leverkusen and they look ready to match their midtable hosts, who are four points better off after six games.
Prediction: Draw
Cologne v Augsburg
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Cologne have adapted impressively to top-tier football and they can stay among the top six by defeating lowly Augsburg at RheinEnergieStadion. The Billy Goats should have nothing to fear from Augsburg, who lost 2-1 to basement boys Heidenheim on their last road trip.
Prediction: Cologne
Heidenheim v Werder Bremen
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Werder Bremen have had to tackle some tough fixtures but they have taken a respectable seven points from six games and can improve their position by defeating struggling Heidenheim at Voith-Arena. The Green-Whites should see off their rock-bottom hosts, who have scored just four league goals.
Prediction: Werder Bremen
Mainz v Bayer Leverkusen
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Bayer Leverkusen are seven games unbeaten but they haven’t totally convinced with some of their performances and could drop points on their trip to Mainz. Mainz have started slowly but they have scope to improve and can start the process by collecting a first home point of the campaign.
Prediction: Draw
RB Leipzig v Hamburg
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
RB Leipzig have collected 13 points from five games since an opening 6-0 loss away to Bayern Munich and they should post a solid home win over Hamburg, who are still readjusting to the Bundesliga. Hamburg have not scored on their travels and could be shut out at the Red Bull Arena.
Prediction: RB Leipzig to win to nil
Wolfsburg v Stuttgart
Kick-off: 2.30pm Saturday
Stuttgart made a shaky start to the season but they have won their last three Bundesliga games and can pick up maximum points against Wolfsburg. Sebastien Hoeness’s side are growing in confidence and should offer a stern test to the lowly Wolves, who are winless in five.
Prediction: Stuttgart
Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund
Kick-off: 5.30pm Saturday
Bayern Munich’s glittering array of forwards have been flexing their muscles this season and they will be key to overcoming title rivals Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena. Vincent Kompany’s champions have already bagged 25 league goals, but they are not without fault at the back and could concede a consolation goal.
Prediction: Bayern Munich to win & both teams to score
Freiburg v Eintracht Frankfurt
Kick-off: 2.30pm Sunday
Eintracht Frankfurt may have sold Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool this summer but they are the Bundesliga’s second-highest scorers after six rounds and should have too much firepower for Freiburg. Frankfurt have won two of three games on their league travels and are capable of ending Freiburg’s six-game unbeaten sequence.
Prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt draw no bet
St Pauli v Hoffenheim
Kick-off: 4.30pm Sunday
St Pauli have suffered three successive losses but they can stop the slide by holding Hoffenheim to a draw at Millerntor-Stadion. Alexander Blessin’s side have been competitive in every game and are set to match their out-of-sorts visitors, who are winless in three.
Prediction: Draw
