Football Tips: Cash to rough up Doku in Our 14/1 Sunday 2pm Super Sub Bet Builder

Fouls aplenty in the Midlands.

Thanks mainly to the nuisance of European action on a Thursday night, we once again have a fair share of 2pm kickoffs on a Sunday.

Like them or loathe them, they are a part of the modern game and won’t be going anytime soon, but can often make for intriguing tips – especially if some of the teams involved can’t overcome the 12th-best side in the Netherlands, or the fifth-best in Cyprus…

The greatest Nixon to come from this side of the Atlantic, Oli Nixon, delivers the goods for this batch of picks, all of which are covered by Paddy Power’s Super Sub offer. What does that mean? Well, if a player is substituted, the pick will carry over to his replacement. That’s about it, but it can be really useful – just ask these minted folk!

Let’s be ‘aving you!

Premier League match at Villa Park

Matty Cash 2+ fouls committed

Aston Villa right back Matty Cash faces the daunting task of containing one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wide men on Sunday afternoon, namely Jeremy Doku, and his career record of over a foul per game for club and country suggests he will be getting stuck in.

The Polish international has been carded in three of his last nine starts across all competitions, and the last two times he’s faced such a direct winger – in matches against Bologna and Everton – he made at least two fouls in both.

Jeremy Doku to be fouled 2+ times

Doku is as consistent as players come in the Premier League when it comes to winning fouls, and has drawn 2.91 offences per 90’ this season. He’s been brought down at least twice in six of his last seven starts, and if we include Paddy’s Super Sub offer, he’s been fouled on two occasions in every start.

Premier League match at the Vitality Stadium

Nikola Milenkovic 1+ Shots

Sean Dyche’s appointment at Nottingham Forest is likely to herald a renewed focus on attacking set pieces as is his trademark. If that is to be the case, six-foot-four Nikola Milenkovic looks to be the most appropriate target given his aerial prowess.

The Serbian centre back has taken five shots across his last six starts, with all of those coming from dead-ball situations, and his average of 0.78 shots per 90 last season further emphasises his threat.

Nottingham Forest Over 2.5 Corners

In terms of corners, the away side have taken three or more in 11 of their 12 games across all competitions this season, whilst the Cherries have conceded at least three in four of five games as hosts.

Forest’s last three visits to the Vitality have seen them manage at least six corners in each game, and so three feels more than achievable, given their new manager’s direct style.

Premier League match at Molineux

Andre to be fouled 1+ times

This relegation six-pointer between Wolves and Burnley is likely to be a scrappy affair, and with so many players in central midfield who are excellent for foul involvements, it feels a good plan of attack to target players in the middle of the park to be fouled.

For the home side, Andre is being brought down 1.69 times per 90’ and at least once in six of his seven league appearances. Across Burnley’s last five games, opposition central midfielders have been fouled 23 times, meaning that the Brazilian will do well to avoid contact.

Josh Cullen to be fouled 2+ times

In the form of Josh Cullen, Burnley have a midfielder of their own with the ability to draw fouls. That’s certainly been the case more recently, as across his last 30 outings for the Clarets, he has been fouled 1.92 times per 90 minutes.

He’ll be up against Wolves’ central trio of Joao Gomes, Marshall Munetsi and the aforementioned Andre, who between them commit an average of 5.47 infringements per game, so this looks the perfect occasion for him to be felled another two times.
