How Broncos orchestrated unlikely fourth-quarter comeback over Giants: Watch video

The Athletic has live coverage of NFL Week 8.
The Broncos orchestrated an extremely rare 33-point fourth quarter to come back against the Giants last Sunday. An effort like that requires both sides of the ball to be operating at the highest level and a bit of good fortune (in this case, Bo Nix’s big pass on the final drive being caught by a different player than his intended target).
The above video breaks down how it took a little bit of everything to highlight that collective effort and luck.
The Broncos entered the fourth quarter against the Giants down 19-0 and proceeded to score 33 points for the win, the most points in the fourth quarter in NFL history by a team that was being shut out. Teams trailing by 18-plus points with under six minutes left had lost the last 1,602 games in a row.
The first play featured is the first domino to fall — Jaxson Dart’s interception in Giants territory with just under five minutes to go in a 26-16 game.
The second key play in the collapse comes at the end of Denver’s next possession — a six-play, 68-yard touchdown drive to take their first lead of the game. After struggling to run the ball for most of this game, the Broncos turned to their quarterback to get the job done on the ground.
After Nix’s 18-yard touchdown run, the Giants scored to bring the game back to 32-30 Giants, leaving the Broncos less than 40 seconds to get into field goal range for the win. The very first play of that fateful drive was a reminder that sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.
