Blue Jays vs. Dodgers score and live updates: MLB World Series Game 3 latest news and highlights

It isn’t just 5 p.m. starts on the West Coast that can be a problem. All postseason game times are determined by MLB’s broadcast partners. That can lead to some awkward starts, especially in the early rounds. I had Game 4 in the 1997 ALDS, Seattle at Baltimore.
First pitch was at 3. p.m. with a low, bright sun in early October. It wasn’t a problem in the top of the first, but when Randy Johnson took the mound to warm up in the bottom of the inning, his first pitch caught catcher Dan Wilson and my attention immediately.
There’s a silver high-rise in downtown Baltimore that, frankly, I had never noticed before when calling pitches at Camden Yards. On this day, with the early October sun low in the sky, a pitcher who’s 6-foot-10 and standing on a 10-foot mound, the ball was coming directly out of the sunny glare of that stainless steel building.
Wilson said “Wow!” and I instantly thought: I am going to get lambasted the first couple innings! It was a huge challenge for everyone: the hitter, catcher, and me. You can’t hit it, it’s hard to catch it, but I better not miss it!
