MTV Cancels Beloved Show After 46 Seasons

MTV has officially decided not to renew its long-running comedy clip show Ridiculousness, which was hosted by former professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek. The show ran on-air for 46 seasons from 2011 to 2025. The cancellation comes ahead of Season 46’s final three episodes, which are set to be released on November 6.

“From unbelievable fails to wacky pranks gone wrong and everything in between, Rob Dyrdek dives into the funniest videos on the internet alongside a variety of incredible special guests,” reads the official logline.

Why did MTV cancel Ridiculousness?

According to Variety, MTV’s decision to cancel Ridiculousness was because of the network’s plans to head in a new direction for its content. The network is reportedly looking to curate a slate of content that “embraces its experimental DNA” and represents “different creative voices” as it aims to refresh its programming.

It was also executive-produced by Dyrdek, who, according to Bloomberg, was paid by MTV at least $32.5 million per year for his involvement in the show. Besides Dyrdek, the show is also co-hosted by TV personality and comedian Steelo Brim. Music artist Chanel West Coast was also previously a co-host of the program for 30 seasons.

Throughout its long run, the show has featured many famous personalities, including Justin Bieber, Tyler the Creator, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Eric André, DJ Khaled, Michael B. Jordan, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and the late Kobe Bryan. The hosts and guests critiqued amateur viral videos ranging from the unbelievable to downright dangerous clips. Dyrdek breaks down the clips by putting them in four different categories, such as “Hot Mess,” “Worst Case Scenario,” and “Redneck Good Times.”
