Roberts: Yamamoto available to pitch in Game 7

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told USA Today’s Bob Nightengale prior to Game 7 Saturday that right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto has volunteered to pitch in the World Series finale and is available.
Yamamoto threw 96 pitches less than 24 hours ago as the Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 6 to force the decider.

Yamamoto allowed just one earned run on five hits, one walk and six strikeouts in his outing.
In Game 2, the 27-year-old pitched his second consecutive complete game of the postseason, holding the Jays to just one run in a 5-1 win. In that outing, Yamamoto allowed a mere four hits and struck out eight hitters.
Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to start Game 7 for Los Angeles Saturday on short rest. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow – who closed out Game 6 – is also expected to be available for Roberts out of the bullpen.
Forty-one-year-old Max Scherzer will counter for the Blue Jays, who are trying to clinch their first World Series title in 32 years.
