Samuel L. Jackson: The 100 Most Influential Climate Leaders of 2025

Samuel L. Jackson’s recent attention-grabbing role wasn’t in a blockbuster film, but a 60-second ad. Released in July in partnership with Vattenfall—a Swedish power company that famously built an 11-turbine project within view of President Donald Trump’s Scotland golf course—the commercial finds Jackson standing on a windswept coastline, extolling the benefits of the technology while snacking on seaweed harvested from experimental seaweed farming lines strung between wind turbines. “These giants are standing tall against fossil fuels, rising up out of the ocean like a middle finger to CO2,” he said. “Deep beneath the waves, they can become artificial reefs, creating habitats for sea life to grow.”

Though he wasn’t mentioned by name, the ad was seen by many as a tongue-in-cheek nod to President Trump’s anti-wind-farm stance, and went viral, reaching 600 million viewers across 33 countries within four days of its release.
