International raider Al Riffa is the favourite to win the 165th Melbourne Cup with one punter so certain, he parted with $500,000 at the annual Call of the Card on Monday night.

There were chaotic scenes at Flemington Racecourse at punters sprinted through the gates, with a few racegoers coming unstuck.
Drama rocked Flemington during the opening race of the day when the result was officially protested.
Punters were also left doing a double-take when champion jockey James McDonald entered the track in the wrong silks without any explanation given.
There was more drama earlier in the day when jockey Neil Farley was suspended for breaching whipping rules.
The big day finishes with the 10th race at 5.15pm.
