Popular singer shot and killed in Los Angeles at 22: ‘Ambush-style killing’

Maria De La Rosa, a popular young Latin singer, has been shot and killed in Los Angeles.

TMZ first reported the news.

She was just 22.

De La Rosa, who performed as “DELAROSA,” was reportedly in a parked car in the Northridge area of Los Angeles when she was shot and killed. Police said that the suspects are still at large.

KTLA said that it was an “ambush-style killing” that took place just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

“Witnesses described seeing two male suspects approach a vehicle that was parked on Bryant Street,” the LAPD said in a statement. “Multiple rounds were fired at several victims who were parked in the area in their vehicle.”

KTLA reported that there were two other individuals in the car with the singer, and that both of them were in critical condition.

Police said they are still investigating a motive.

KTLA said that De La Rosa released a new single in August called “No Me Llames” which translates to “Don’t Call Me’ in English.

She is the second young Latin singer to be killed in recent months, after Fede Dorcaz was shot and killed in Mexico City in October.

He was 29.

The Hollywood Reporter said that Dorcaz was preparing to appear on the dancing reality show Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy, which was to air on Monday. The outlet said that he left rehearsals, and his car was “intercepted by two people on motorcycles.” They reportedly shot at Dorcaz at least three times, with one shot hitting him in the neck causing him to die instantly.
