Padres’ Yu Darvish undergoes UCL surgery, will miss 2026 season

The Padres announced Tuesday that Darvish underwent UCL surgery with an internal brace on his right elbow on Oct. 29, as well as flexor tendon repair.
The recovery timeline is 12-15 months, and Darvish confirmed the surgery in a social media post, saying, “I will be working hard on my rehab to be able to throw a ball comfortably again.”
This past season, the 39-year-old didn’t take the mound until July after dealing with elbow inflammation. He went 5-5 in 15 appearances with a 5.38 ERA and 1.181 WHIP over 72 innings.
Darvish is 115-93 in 297 career starts with a 3.65 ERA and 1.138 WHIP over 1,778 innings.
