Red Sox, Jarren Duran agree to new $7.7 million contract for 2026

The Red Sox and outfielder Jarren Duran have agreed to a one-year, $7.7 million contract for 2026, according to a source.
The deal also includes a potential $75,000 in performance bonuses.
Duran had an $8 million team option for 2026. The Red Sox declined it, paid him a $100,000 buyout and negotiated this new contract.
He will earn an extra $25,000 if he reaches 450 plate appearances, another $25,000 if he reaches 500 plate appearances and another $25,000 if he reaches 550 plate appearances.
The 29-year-old outfielder is still under team control through the 2028 season with two more arbitration eligible years after 2026.
Duran batted .256 with a .332 on-base percentage, .442 slugging percentage, .774 OPS, 16 home runs, 41 doubles, 13 triples, 84 RBIs, 86 runs, 60 walks and 169 strikeouts in 157 games (696 plate appearances).
His OPS dropped 60 points from 2024 when he was an All-Star and finished eighth for the AL MVP.
Duran made 129 starts in left field, 22 in center field and one at DH this past season. He finished with nine defensive runs saved in 1,346 innings overall in the outfield.
There has been talk about the Red Sox potentially trading one of their outfielders this offseason, with Duran and Wilyer Abreu believed to be the two most likely candidates.
