Alejandro Garnacho warning is coming true after Ruben Amorim’s 10-word Man United dig

As Alejandro Garnacho continues to find his feet at Chelsea, a warning paid to the ex-Manchester United academy graduate appears to be coming true

Before Alejandro Garnacho chose to leave Manchester United and join Chelsea, former Red Devil, Paul Parker, warned that the Blues and the Argentine star would not not a good fit for each other.

Garnacho burned all of his bridges at Old Trafford when he responded to Ruben Amorim’s decision to bench him for the Europa League final by hitting out publicly. The Red Devils manager then responded with 10 simple words – “You better hope you have a good agent this summer.”

The Argentine wanted to join the west Londoners and his representatives managed to secure a £40million move to Stamford Bridge. He has so far failed to contribute a goal or an assist for the club, and was left on the bench when the Red Devils beat his club 2-1 at Old Trafford.

In the Champions League, manager Enzo Maresca could have given Garnacho the perfect opportunity to open his account for the Blues but chose not to. With Chelsea leading 10-man Ajax 4-1 at half time, Maresca could have introduced Garnacho against the tiring Dutch side.

Instead, he brought on Tyrique George and Reggie Walsh, as well as Andrey Santos, Trevoh Chalobah and Josh Acheampong, rendering Garnacho as an unused substitute. There have been some bright moments for the 20-year-old but he is yet to really impress.

Looking at his performances for the UEFA Conference League winners, it’s easy to cast an eye back on Parker’s comment. In June, the former United defender said: “I also think it would be a bad decision for both him and Chelsea if he went there. He needs a bit of fresh air. He needs a change of environment, and I think he could benefit from a move to another country.”

The ex-United star added: “He doesn’t have the right attitude and he doesn’t want to put in enough work. I don’t think that ever will change.”

In Chelsea’s 3-0 away victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, Garnacho was started on the left-wing. But after the west Londoners struggled with the home side, he was hauled off and replaced by Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea forward Pedro Neto appeared visibly frustrated with the South American after several of his crosses to the back post were not met by a run from Garnacho. This was noticed by ex-England international Peter Crouch, who praised Maresca’s decision to take the ex-United star off.

He said: “Chelsea were a bit sloppy. Credit to Enzo for making those changes. I know Neto was really frustrated with him [Garnacho]. He was crossing the ball and not getting on the other side. Neto was really frustrated with him.”

Garnacho will be hoping to start in his side’s home match against Sunderland on Saturday. The Blues are in fifth position, but are only five points away from current league leaders Arsenal.
