New ‘No Kings’ rally planned as protest against Trump ‘power grabs.’ How to attend

Erie crowds protest in Frontier Park on ‘No Kings Day of Defiance’

Hundreds of people with signs and flags lined the Bayfront Highway and West Eighth Street in Erie, Pa. during the protest on June 14, 2025.

A rally is planned in Erie on Oct. 18 as part of the nationwide “No Kings” movement, opposing what organizers call the growing “authoritarian power grabs” of the President Donald Trump administration.

“President Trump has doubled down,” organizers said in an online statement promoting the Oct. 18 protests.

“His administration is sending masked agents into our streets, terrorizing our communities. They are targeting immigrant families, profiling, arresting and detaining people without warrants. Threatening to overtake elections. Gutting healthcare, environmental protections and education when families need them most.”

Protesters are expected to demonstrate in nearly 2,000 communities across the nation.

When and where is the rally?

The Erie rally, organized by 50501 Erie Pa, will take place Oct. 18, from noon to 2 p.m., at Perry Square.

Another demonstration, billed as a visibility event, is scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Liberty Park, 828 W. Bayfront Parkway. 50501 Erie is not affiliated with this event.

What’s the purpose of the rally?

According to the No Kings website, the movement accuses Trump of abusing executive power, undermining elections and eroding civil liberties.

“The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption and cruelty,” the website reads.

The Erie rally follows an earlier “No Kings” rally in June that drew hundreds of people to Frontier Park. That protest coincided with Trump’s birthday and a military parade he requested in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday.

“President Trump’s birthday parade was drowned out by protests in every state and across the globe,” the website read. “His attempt to turn June 14 into a coronation collapsed, and the story became the strength of a movement rising against his authoritarian power grabs.”
