Vt. police identify woman found dead under potentially suspicious circumstances

NORWICH, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont police are investigating what they say is potentially a suspicious death in Norwich, but few details are being released.

Investigators say the body of Noel Neely, 82, was located at her home on Douglas Hill Road Saturday morning.

Police responded to the home after receiving a report about the body. However, we do not know who made that report.

Troopers say the initial investigation indicates Neely’s death occurred under potentially suspicious circumstances.

Neely worked at her husband’s orthodontics office in Hanover. She served three terms in the Vermont House representing Pomfret.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington is performing an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of Neely’s death.

Police say they are at the early stages of the investigation. They added that everyone associated with this matter is accounted for.
