CeeDee Lamb says he and George Pickens were disciplined for missing curfew

FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Cowboys wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were out after curfew Sunday night in Las Vegas. Lamb shared that information with reporters on Thursday, while also refuting a social media rumor that he was out until the early morning hours and throwing up.
As discipline for missing curfew, Lamb said he and Pickens were benched for the first offensive series in Dallas’ 33-16 Monday night win over the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. The Cowboys went three-and-out in that series. Despite not starting, Lamb and Pickens had productive games.
The Cowboys’ team hotel was the Durango Casino & Resort. Lamb and Pickens missed curfew while at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, about eight miles away.
“It definitely wasn’t nice,” Pickens said Thursday when asked how difficult it was to watch a game start without him. “Me and CeeDee definitely wanted to be out there.”
Pickens ended up having what was probably his best game as a Cowboy, catching nine of 11 targets for 144 yards and a touchdown. His physical play stood out most, as he broke several tackles after his receptions. Lamb added 66 yards on five catches while also hauling in his first touchdown of the last three games.
While Lamb hasn’t had issues with being late to meetings, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer did joke earlier this season about Pickens not always being on time.
During his Tuesday morning radio interview on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called it an “in-house issue” that “had to do with meeting type discipline” and that they “had a late problem there.” After the game, Schottenheimer declined to get into specifics, only saying that there were “a couple things missed.”
Lamb declined to comment about it in the postgame locker room, while Pickens said it was because of “certain personnel.”
He added, “We kind of thought they were gonna come out in certain stuff, but they didn’t. They started kinda hunching down on the run, so we started throwing it around a little bit.”
Pickens was later informed of Schottenheimer’s comments about them missing some things.
“That’s just like between me and Schotty, honestly,” Pickens said.
