Joseph Morales vs. Matt Schnell UFC Vegas 111 preview
Morales (13-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is on his second stint in the UFC after Season 33 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” In August, Morales won the season by submitting Alibi Idiris at UFC 319, extending his current winning streak to four, not including the two exhibition wins during the show.
Schnell (17-9 MMA, 7-7 UFC) snapped a three-fight skid in April by winning a unanimous decision over Jimmy Flick. The result ended a dry spell for “Danger,” which stretched back to July 2022, when he tapped Su Mudaerji. Three stoppage losses followed, but he returned to the win column in his last outing and is aiming to keep the momentum alive.

The co-main event in Las Vegas features a fun pairing at flyweight between Matt Schnell and Joseph Morales.
Morales, who fought in the UFC before, had to fight his way back into the promotion through “The Ultimate Fighter.” In the process of successfully winning his season earlier this year, Morales demonstrated that his game had finally started to come together and reach a new level.

Schnell is a very talented and well-rounded fighter who brings a ton of experience to the table, but his durability and staying power have long been an Achilles heel for the Louisianan. Add in the fact that Schnell is 0-3 in the smaller UFC octagon, and it’s hard to side with him here.
Even though an upset submission win is never off the table for Schnell, I gotta pick Morales to roll – likely scoring a club-and-sub by Round 2.
