Bay Bridge Run has been canceled due to expected inclement weather

The sold-out Bay Bridge Run has been canceled for Sunday due to expected inclement weather, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) announced Saturday.

Both spans of the bridge will now be open to vehicular traffic under normal operations, according to officials.

The below message was posted on the Bay Bridge Run website:

We regret to inform you due to the forecast and a higher than acceptable chance of inclement weather, the Bay Bridge Run has been canceled and will not take place as scheduled on Sunday, November 9, 2025. THE EVENT WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED. During inclement weather, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) does not implement two-way traffic operations (one lane in each direction) on the Bay Bridge’s westbound span. As such, the eastbound span cannot be closed for the event. Please be assured that this decision was not taken lightly; however, the safety of the bridge’s customers, employees and runners are the MDTA’s priority.”We are very disappointed and know that you are too. The CSE staff, volunteers, vendors, and partners have put in countless hours of prep to make this a great day for all involved. While we all knew this was a possibility, we never thought it would become a reality, especially after the beautiful day we had on Saturday.”With this decision, we will switch all runners who checked in at one of the packet pick-up locations to a virtual participant. Your medal will be mailed in the coming weeks. All add-ons, including beer bands and parking passes, will be refunded.”Again, we are saddened by this outcome but understand that safety must come first. When we open registration for 2026, you will get priority and discounted registration for next year. Thank you for your understanding. We are as disappointed as you are.”If you checked a bag at bag check, we will station ourselves at the Anne Arundel Fairgrounds from 8a until 12p for you to claim your bag.”Comment with Bubbles
