Over 8,800 without power in Metairie as cold front continues into the morning

About 8,850 customers in Metairie were without power Monday morning as a cold front continued to blow through the New Orleans metro area, bringing wind gusts and cooler weather, according to Entergy.
The bulk of the outage, around 8,840 people, was first reported at 5:36 a.m., affecting a swath of Metairie, largely between West Metairie Avenue and Veterans Boulevard.
Restoration is expected around 8:30 a.m., according to Entergy’s outage map.
Entergy did not say what caused the outage, but forecasters with the National Weather Service of New Orleans said gusts of up to 35 mph were expected through Monday.
A red flag warning was also in effect Monday morning for critical fire conditions, according to the NWS due to the wind gusts and low humidity. The dry and cool conditions can speed up the spread of any fires, according to the NWS
🔥⚠️ Critical wildfire conditions will be present across the northern Gulf coast Monday due to gusty winds and very low humidity.
☀️ Abnormally dry/drought conditions across the area will enhance the quick spread of any fires that develop.
