Across The Shield: TreVeyon Henderson Runs for Two Long Touchdowns, Chris Olave Makes A Spectacular One-Handed Catch and Jaxon Smith-Njigba Already Has 1,000 Yards This Season
Former Ohio State players had some of the best performances among offensive skill-position players during the 10th Sunday of the 2025 NFL season.
TreVeyon Henderson had the breakout game Buckeye and Patriot fans had been waiting for with two long touchdown runs. Chris Olave and Emeka Egbuka each topped 100 receiving yards and scored touchdowns. And Jaxon Smith-Njigba became the first player in the NFL this season with 1,000 yards as he continued to produce at a record-setting pace in another big game for the Seattle Seahawks.

Big Play Tre breaks through
After a spectacular preseason that started with a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown on his first unofficial NFL play, TreVeyon Henderson’s rookie season got off to an unexpectedly quiet start. But that changed in a big way on Sunday.
In the New England Patriots’ first nine games of the season, Henderson had just one play from scrimmage that went longer than 20 yards (a 27-yard run vs. the Cleveland Browns). Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10, however, Henderson showed off the big-play ability that made him a star in Columbus with two breakaway touchdown runs.
First, Henderson sprinted through the middle of the Buccaneer defense for a 55-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Then, Henderson iced the Patriots’ victory by breaking through a tackle at the line of scrimmage and leaving the Buccaneers’ defense in the dust again for a 69-yard touchdown that gave New England a two-score lead with just 1:31 to play.

Henderson got out so far in front of the Buccaneers defense on his second touchdown run that he had time to check with Patriots coaches on the sideline to see if he should score or slide down to run out the clock. He got the green light from Mike Vrabel and Co. to run into the end zone, and the Patriots finished with a 28-23 victory.

Henderson became the first player in Patriots history with two touchdown runs of 50-plus yards in a game. He ran for a total of 147 yards, the third-most in the NFL this week, on just 14 carries.

With his explosive performance, Henderson earned our Pro Buck of the Week award as the top NFL player from Ohio State in Week 10. It marks the fifth time already this season that a member of last year’s national championship team has been Ohio State’s top NFL performer of the week, as Henderson joins two-time winner Emeka Egbuka, fellow running back Quinshon Judkins and Week 9 winner Denzel Burke.

One-handed catch highlights 104-yard game for Olave
Chris Olave had his first 100-yard game of the season in Week 10 as he caught five passes for 104 yards in the New Orleans Saints’ 17-7 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Playing in the same stadium where he suffered a season-ending concussion last year, Olave had a far better day on Sunday, giving the Saints a lead they would not relinquish when he beat Jaycee Horn deep for a career-long 62-yard touchdown.

Olave topped that with an even more spectacular play later in the game. With Panthers cornerback Chau Smith-Wade interfering with his inside arm, Olave made a spinning one-handed catch with his outside arm, tipping the ball to himself and cradling it against his body with his right hand, all while getting both feet down in bounds before his momentum carried him out of bounds.

Olave acknowledged that he felt anxiety when he arrived at the stadium because of what happened when the Saints played in Carolina last year, but that didn’t stop him from having his best game of the season.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba needed just nine games to become the NFL’s first 1,000-yard receiver this season.
Smith-Njigba hit the 1,000-yard mark on Sunday as he caught five passes for 93 yards in the Seattle Seahawks’ 44-22 win over the Arizona Cardinals, bringing him to 1,041 total receiving yards for the season.
JSN leads the NFL in receiving by more than 200 yards, with Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase ranking second in the league with 831 yards for the season.
Although his per-game dropped slightly in Week 10, as the 93-yard game was his second-lowest yardage total of the season and his first of five games without 100 receiving yards, he remains on pace to break Calvin Johnson’s single-season record for receiving yards more than halfway through the season. With an average of 115.7 yards per game, Smith-Njigba is on pace for 1,966 receiving yards this season – two more than Johnson’s record of 1,964 yards in 2012.
Smith-Njigba is just the third player in NFL history to start a season with nine straight 75-yard receiving games, joining Antonio Brown (2014) and Michael Irvin (1995).

Egbuka back on track
After a scintillating start to his rookie season, Emeka Egbuka had a quiet three-week stretch in which he caught just nine passes for 117 yards and no touchdowns after suffering a hamstring injury against the San Francisco 49ers. He regained his early-season form and reestablished himself as the man to beat in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year race on Sunday.
Egbuka caught six passes for 115 yards in the Buccaneers’ loss to the Patriots, including a 21-yard touchdown on Tampa Bay’s opening drive.

Egbuka’s third 100-yard game of the season brought him to 40 catches for 677 yards and six touchdowns for the year. He ranks ninth in the NFL in receiving yards and is tied for fourth in the NFL in receiving touchdowns, leading all rookies in both categories.
McQuaide plays in 15th season
Former Ohio State long snapper Jake McQuaide’s NFL career officially reached 15 years on Sunday as he made his first game appearance of the season in the Los Angeles Rams’ 42-26 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Added to the Rams’ practice squad last week, McQuaide was elevated to the active roster for Sunday’s game. After he successfully handled snapping duties for all of the Rams’ six extra points and two punts, Los Angeles signed him to its active roster on Monday as a permanent replacement for its former long snapper, Alex Ward.
Now that he’s back in the NFL, McQuaide is once again tied with Cameron Heyward – who also started his NFL career in 2011 – for the longest-tenured former Ohio State player in the league. McQuaide’s reunion with the Rams, whom he spent his first 10 NFL seasons with after they signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2011, comes after stints with the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers over the last five years.
Jets pay tribute to Mangold
The New York Jets paid tribute to legendary former Jets and Ohio State center Nick Mangold as they hosted the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in their first home game since Mangold’s tragic death last month.
The Jets placed flags and banners around the stadium before the game featuring pictures of Mangold and his jersey number, 74.

The Jets also held a pregame moment of silence for Mangold and played a video tribute to their former center, who played for the Jets from 2006-16 and made seven Pro Bowls. Mangold’s wife, Jennifer, and their four children served as honorary captains for the pregame coin toss.

The Jets went on to beat the Browns, 27-20, in a game that fittingly included a 74-yard punt return touchdown. While Justin Fields didn’t have a prolific day passing the ball, completing just six of 11 passing attempts for 54 yards with one touchdown and an interception (by his former Ohio State teammate Ronnie Hickman), he nevertheless earned his second straight win as the Jets’ starting quarterback after an 0-7 start to the season.
“It broke my heart seeing his family on the sideline,” Fields said when asked about the tribute to Mangold after the game. “But he’s in a better place now. Like I said, it was tough. But I’m glad we were able to get the win today.”
Wilson reinjures knee in return
While the Jets earned an emotional win in Mangold’s honor on Sunday, it was a rough day for Garrett Wilson, who finished a game without a catch for the first time in his NFL career and left the game early with a knee sprain.
After missing the Jets’ previous two games due to a hyperextended right knee, Wilson reinjured the same knee against the Browns while attempting to catch a deep ball from Fields. ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported Monday that Wilson is expected to miss three to four weeks with the new injury.

With the injury, Wilson appears likely to fall short of 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his NFL career. The former Ohio State receiver, who’s now in his fourth year in the league, has 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns in seven games this year.
Dobbins upset about uncalled hip-drop tackle
J.K. Dobbins ran for 77 yards on 18 carries in the Denver Broncos’ Thursday night win over the Las Vegas Raiders, but suffered a foot injury in the process when he was tackled by Raiders defensive end Tyree Wilson.
The tackle appeared to be a hip-drop tackle, which is defined by the NFL as a tackle on which the defender “grabs the runner with one or both hands or wraps the runner with both arms” and “unweights himself by swiveling and dropping his hips and/or lower body, landing on and/or trapping the runner’s leg(s) at or below the knee.” A hip-drop tackle is supposed to result in a 15-yard penalty for the defense, but no flag was thrown for Wilson’s tackle.

Dobbins was able to return to the game, but reportedly sought a second opinion on the injury after the game, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. And he had some choice words for the NFL on social media about the penalty that wasn’t called.
