Mecole Hardman: Bills add former Chiefs Super Bowl hero to practice squad

The Buffalo Bills are attempting to bolster their wide receiver room after an ugly performance against the Miami Dolphins.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bills are signing Mecole Hardman to their practice squad. Hardman, 27, is a three-time Super Bowl-winning receiver during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. The receiver is best known for scoring the game-winning touchdown for Kansas City in Super Bowl LVIII.
Hardman has recorded 178 receptions for 2,302 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career. He has also rushed the ball 26 times for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Hardman’s top attribute is his speed. He recorded a 4.33 40-yard dash time at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine.
In addition to playing receiver, Hardman is a return specialist. Buffalo’s return game has struggled this season with Brandon Codrington inactive, so Hardman could give the team a boost if he’s elevated from the practice squad or eventually signed to the 53-man roster. In his career, Hardman has 89 punt returns for 819 yards and one touchdown. He also has 45 kick returns for 1,073 yards and one touchdown.
In addition to two stints with the Chiefs, Hardman has also played for the New York Jets (2023). He was also on the Green Bay Packers’ offseason roster this summer. Hardman was named a second-team All-Pro in 2019 and also made the Pro Bowl that season.
No corresponding move has been named at this time. For the time being, Hardman joins Gabe Davis, Kristian Wilkerson and Stephen Gosnell on Buffalo’s practice squad. Based on the play of Buffalo’s current receivers, it may just be a matter of time before one of them gets the opportunity to play.
