Eddie Munson was a crucial metalhead in Season 4 of the Netflix series in the fight against Vecna, and his sacrifice will not be in vain.

Remembering Eddie Munson’s Heroic Sacrifice in Stranger Things

Eddie Munson’s heroic sacrifice in Stranger Things Season 4 involved him staying behind to fight off a swarm of Demobats in the Upside Down to buy time for his friends to complete their mission. Eddie was unfortunately accused of a crime he didn’t commit and was ostracized by the Hawkins community.

Rather than running away, he faced his fears with a sick rendition of Metallica’s Master of Puppets in the finale of Season 4, to lure and distract the Demobats, allowing his friends a chance to escape.

As a result, Eddie is completely swarmed by Demobats and dies a tragic death at their hand. Carrying a lot of emotional weight for the Hawkins heroes, he will forever be remembered for his sacrifice in the fight against Vecna, which will come to its dark conclusion in Stranger Things 5.

According to Variety, the first episode, titled The Crawl, opens on a young Will in the Upside Down, trying to calm himself down by softly singing the Clash’s Should I Stay or Should I Go. Suddenly, a Demogorgon attacks, chasing Will up a tree and leading to a gnarly fall.

Knocked unconscious, Will is then dragged by the Demogorgon to the lair of Vecna. Wrapping Will up in his vines with one over his mouth, Vecna says creepily:

At long last, we can begin. You and I, we are going to do such beautiful things together.

Stranger Things 5 has a single goal: find and kill Vecna. The antagonist’s lair is missing, complicating the mission for the kids alongside a military shutdown of Hawkins. Here are key details of the final season.
