PRINCETON, N.J. – In its first match of the final Ivy League weekend, Harvard women’s volleyball (6-15, 5-8 Ivy) fell to Princeton, 3-0, in New Jersey this evening.
How it Happened
The Tigers established their offensive power early, building an 8-4 lead to open the set. Harvard got the deficit down to as many as three but was never able to fully break through the Tigers’ defense. Princeton established a 1-0 lead after closing the first set with a 25-20 victory.
Harvard looked to turn the page in the second set, opening with a quick 5-1 advantage. The Crimson continued to push and held a lead for the majority of the set. The Crimson established its largest lead at 17-13, but a 3-0 Princeton run got the home team back into the set. The Tigers eventually took the lead, but Harvard responded and quickly pulled back in front at 21-20 with two straight points. It would be the final points of the set for the Crimson, however, as Princeton went on to rattle off the last five points of the frame.
