Colin Hurley leaves LSU for personal reasons

By Hunt Palmer

Colin Hurley has left the LSU football program for personal reasons, LSU has confirmed.

The redshirt freshman quarterback did not travel to Tuscaloosa last week and did not join the team in Tiger Stadium against Arkansas. The Advocate was the first to report.

Hurley has yet to appear in a game for LSU in his second season. He enrolled at 16-years-old and redshirted a season ago. Hurley missed spring practice after a single-car accident in January. He spent two months in Florida rehabilitating before rejoining the team in April.

Starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier did not dress for the Arkansas game due to an oblique injury he aggravated in on Thursday. That leaves Michael Van Buren as the only scholarship quarterback on the roster. Ju’Juan Johnson has played running back this season but worked as a quarterback in the spring. He’s Louisiana’s all-time high school leader in total yards and touchdowns as a quarterback.
